I am the owner and operator of a natural hair salon that specializes in Sisterlocks, named Krown and Glory. I am a mother of 3 amazing kids. And a carnival addict with no known Caribbean root but I still love to play mas with my plain ol' American self. How and when did you first start playing mas?  * I started playing mas 3 years ago in 2017. A few of my clients are West Indian and they were educating me on the whole play mas process. As you can imagine, I was nervous but excited all the same. I then joined a local band named Island Oasis and that was the start of my carnival addiction. It was the prettiest, most fun and hardest workout I had ever done. And I just wanted to do it all over again and again. What carnival experience has been your favourite (and most proud) to date?  * It's hard to say my favorite carnival experience because they were all amazing. But I would have to pick between 2. Bahamas in May 2019 and the more re

Full-time Employed for major Insurance carrier in the U.S. Loves to travel, read and spending time with family and friends How and when did you first start playing mas?  * I first played mas in Brooklyn's West Indian Day Parade as a young woman. Although I always wanted to play as a child my mother was against it even though she never missed NY carnival. What carnival experience has been your favourite (and most proud) to date?  * I don't have a favorite as they all have a different vibe. I enjoy each carnival experience as it is an event that I share with my family. Since most of us live in different cities, we travel just to get that time to spend with each other doing what we enjoy the most What are some of your must-have carnival essentials? Must have essentials - comfortable shoes. If your feet hurt it will throw off your whole experience. I find that boots and sneak

What carnival experience has been your favourite (and most proud) to date?  * St. Vincent Carnival. Playing in my parents home country was special. What are some of your must-have carnival essentials? Glue gun, an abundance of face jewels, proper footwear. Mas is the love of soca and good vibes. People congregate to have fun and live life. I am at my most confident when I'm in full costu

Current grad student, avid carnival lover, and big time foodie (I have a food insta!) How and when did you first start playing mas?  * Officially in a costume? In my early tween years in Nevis for Culturama. What carnival experience has been your favourite (and most proud) to date?  * Wow this is a tough one but I would say my most recent experience in New York for Labor Day.
