Face of the Festival 2019 - Toronto Caribbean Carnival | CARNIVAL WEEK APPEARANCES

TORONTO CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL “FACE OF THE FESTIVAL” NADELLE’S CARNIVAL WEEK APPEARANCES TORONTO, ONT (July 29, 2019) – In the days leading up to the climax of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival—the Grand Parade—Nadelle, the “Face of the Festival” for the Toronto Caribbean Carnival (sharing the role with Joel “The Connector” Davis), is scheduled to make appearances at some of the festival’s most anticipated events. This week she will continue and complete her visits to the individual mas camps across the city of Toronto, as section leaders and volunteers begin costume distribution for their registered masqueraders. Bands will also be busy preparing for the King & Queen competition later in the week. On Wednesday, July 31 st , there will be an appearance on Toronto news channel CP24 during the noon hour, with an official overview of festival events and general information. TORONTO CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL “FACE OF THE FESTIVAL” NADELLE JOINS JAMAAL MAGLOIRE AND THE TORONTO REVELLERS ON BREAKFAST TELEVISION TORONTO, ONT (June 28, 2019) – This morning Nadelle, the “Face of the Festival” for the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, joined Toronto Raptors’ assistant coach Jamaal Magloire and his Toronto Carnival masquerade band the Toronto Revellers for an appearance on City TV’s Breakfast Television. Joined by youth and adult masqueraders in costume, as well as the Revellers Rhythm Section (percussion band), the group danced while chatting with Dina Pugliese and Devo Brown about Magloire’s upcoming Canada Day long weekend event, as well as the carnival season. TORONTO CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL “FACE OF THE FESTIVAL” NADELLE TO TOUR MAS CAMPS TORONTO, ONT (July 3, 2019) – Nadelle, the “Face of the Festival” for the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, is set to visit with the mas camps of the participating bands in this year’s festival. Nadelle will tour the carnival headquarters of each group to engage with band leaders, section leaders, volunteers, and community members. The mas camp—the gathering place for leaders, designers, and supporters of each masquerade band—is the hub of activity during the carnival season. Traditionally located in industrial areas of the city (the majority of which are in Scarborough), the warehouse/showroom spaces house costume materials, are the location for special events throughout the summer, and serve as a meeting place to build momentum and plan for the season. “Volunteering at mas camps during the summer is a part of my yearly routine,” said Nadelle, who has enjoyed her role helping to recruit and coordinate (for j

TORONTO CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL “FACE OF THE FESTIVAL” NADELLE ATTENDS JR. CARNIVAL LAUNCH TORONTO, ONT (July 3, 2019) – This afternoon at Malvern Town Centre (31 Tapscott Road) from 11:30am to 1:00pm, Nadelle, the “Face of the Festival” for the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, attended the official media launch for the Jr. Carnival. Open to the media and the public, this event serves as a preview for the year’s costumes from over 100 junior masqueraders, in addition to live performances and entertainment for the community to enjoy. “I have always had a special place in my heart for kiddie carnival,” said Nadelle. “It is so important for us to teach the young people in our community about our culture, our heritage, and that there is more to carnival than just music and dancing.” As a volunteer with various masquerade bands over the years, Nadelle has dedicated her time to help recruit participants for the Jr. Carnival, as well as helping with costuming, administration, and
